The RCI Senior Executive Training (for CEOs and senior management)
This advanced workshop offers top executives a fast-paced course in delivering the company message, with the use of mock, on-camera interviews and candid feedback. We help CEOs and senior management hone their interview skills, develop sound bites they’ll actually use, and tackle the tough questions effectively without alienating reporters.
Understanding the Media & the Message
This introductory course offers a compelling, in-depth analysis of the media as it operates today - TV, radio, newspapers, the web, blogs - from the people who've been there: former reporters with national news outlets such as CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, major market newspapers and online media.
Learn the most important elements of message development from professionals who have been in the hot seat at communications departments for national corporations and discover what works for reporters and what doesn't.
Put your skills to the test by role playing and brainstorming talking points. Discover the secrets of developing sound bites that get picked up. Learn interview techniques that work. Each participant is interviewed on camera at least twice, followed by candid, constructive feedback.
The RCI Advanced Messaging Method
This seminar is designed for organizations wanting to develop their corporate or non-profit media message. We offer a safe and stimulating environment for teams to brainstorm ideas and come out of the session with clear, concise and effective messaging. We customize the workshop to meet your needs, whether it’s updating existing messaging or developing a message for a new initiative.
The “Real Crisis” Communications Workshop
How do you prepare for a public relations crisis before it happens? When it hits, how do you work with the media and protect your brand? This day-long workshop provides the answers with a dynamic format of lecture, brainstorming and group participation. We identify the different types of PR crises and how to involve every level of your organization in preparedness training. We create real-life scenarios, drawn from your organization’s experiences, of what can happen and how to react quickly, honestly and effectively.
Presentation Training
Most people fear public speaking more than anything else in the world. Our “Boot Camp” training gives people the tools they need to get beyond those fears and speak persuasively to audiences of any size. Our hands-on, individualized workshop offers valuable tips for preparing and delivering presentations and speeches. Each session is video-taped and our candid, constructive feedback allows individuals to progress quickly, gaining confidence and internalizing key techniques.
Press Conferences
Fielding questions from a sea of reporters, each with a different agenda, is a lot different than building a relationship with a single reporter in a one-on-one interview. This special workshop offers tips and tricks for staying on message during even the most difficult conditions. Designed both for top executives and corporate spokespeople, this course offers techniques on delivering the message regardless of what question is asked. We also give candid, constructive feedback on presentation and delivery skills including body language and voice modulation.
The Leno, Letterman, Regis & Kelly Workshop
Your company has just hired a celebrity chef to represent a new product, but he/she doesn't know the company message and has no experience with the product. Now you are charged with booking them on "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night with David Letterman" and getting them on message. If this is what keeps you up nights, we have a workshop for you. RCI has trained chefs and vets, paleontologists and herpetologists, football players, TV hosts, decorators, physicians and celebrity bikers. We know how to get "talent" to stick to your company's message. We role play, we time the interviews, and we suggest props and sound bites. We also help people new to talk-shows to understand the basics of camera angles, host interaction and live audience responses.
For Non-Profits Only:
Understanding the Media and the Message**
Media relations is often the least expensive way to deliver the message to potential donors and recipients, but recent research conducted by the Georgia Center for Non-Profits and Georgia State University shows that non-profits are sorely under-represented in the media. The study also shows that reporters are interested in covering non-profits more frequently – but they don’t get the news! This workshop helps non-profits identify their most compelling news angles and gives them the skills to reach out to the media, even with limited funds and personnel. In this specialized RCI training program, participants learn how to develop key messages that embody the organization’s mission, how to find the stories that reporters want, and how and when to deliver the news.
** RCI offers group sessions for representatives from multiple organizations – an economical way of learning how to create and deliver a media message that works.
